PUTRAJAYA, July 3 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s stepson, Riza Aziz, has given a statement regarding the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal lasting almost nine hours at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters, here.

The Kia Soreno vehicle, which brought the chief executive officer of a film company based in Los Angeles, was seen leaving the MACC Headquarters at about 10.30pm.

More than 50 local and foreign media practitioners had gathered to cover the case involving the stepson of the former prime minister.

Yesterday, Riza was ordered to be present by the MACC to give a statement to assist in the investigation on the 1MDB scandal which was believed to have used hundreds of millions of the company’s funds to produce films in Hollywood, United States of America.

He arrived here at 1.32pm and it was believed that the session to give the statement started at 2pm.

Bernama was made to understand that Riza was required to come again to give his statement at 2pm tomorrow.

Earlier, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull confirmed that only Riza’s statement was taken and there was no necessity to detain him so far. — Bernama
