PETALING JAYA, May 15 — If you know the tune of the Malay folksong Chan Mali Chan, singing along to Singaporean blogger mrbrown’s new satirical tune about former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be a breeze.

Mrbrown, whose real name is Lee Kin Mun, uploaded Run Najib Run, his latest musical attempt on YouTube, mocking the recently ousted former prime minister who is embroiled in a corruption scandal here.

“Hello, this is Kim Huat, Singapore’s number one Malaysian fan.”

“Today, I want to dedicate this song to all my Malaysian friends out there after their election,” said Lee in the song’s introduction.

Lee, who is best known for his social and political commentary, sings about Najib being voted out by the Malaysian people and how former sworn enemies Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are now “very brudder, brudder (buddies)”.

Lee’s new tune took inspiration from several events that unfolded over the past week, including Najib’s plans to leave the country for a short holiday before being blocked by the Immigration Department.

“Jibby want to fly, he say go holiday but passport kena (got) block so he cannot go away,” sang Lee.

Also not spared was AirAsia’s Tan Sri Tony Fernandes who had to apologise for backing Barisan Nasional in an election campaign video that backfired, and Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who is known for her extravagant lifestyle.

“Sell Rosmah sell, all your bags on Carousell,” he sang.

In Singapore, Lee is affectionately known as Singapore’s “Blogfather”. In 2007, Lee was the only Singaporean named in the Top 20 Asian Progressives, a list by World Business Magazine.
