KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — The positive growth in the nation’s economy is partly attributed to the hard work and dedication of the collective labour force, according to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

In a statement today, he praised the workforce from both the public and private sectors, across every industry, as irreplaceable backbone of the nation and the rock upon which the economy has been able to achieve growth.

“The nation’s full year Gross Domestic Product grew by 5.9 per cent in 2017 and is projected to continue on this growth trajectory in the coming year.

“Indeed, this positive growth must be attributed at least in part to the hard work and dedication of the rakyat (people),” he said.

He added, the rakyat regardless of age, background, race or creed, have contributed in their own way towards spurring the nation to greater height, well on track to achieve not only the developed nation status, but also realising the TN50 vision of being a global leader in economic development, citizen well-being and innovation.

Liow, who is also the MCA president, said the Barisan Nasional government remains as deeply committed as ever to supporting and prioritising the needs of the workforce, from enhancing quality of life to increasing disposable income. — Bernama
