LANGKAWI, Feb 26 — Following the success of the ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ initiative that had been organised in several locations, a similar carnival that was held today in Kuah also grabbed the attention of residents.
Within half an hour after the start of the carnival at 10am, more than 1,000 people began crowding the sale site located beside Wisma Umno Langkawi.
Langkawi Member of Parliament, Datuk Ir Nawawi Ahmad said in the one-day programme that was organised by his office in collaboration with the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry as well as several other agencies, discount prices up to 20 per cent were offered for over 20 grocery items.
He said the programme would be turned into a weekly event of the Langkawi parliamentary constituency and Air Hangat was the scheduled destination for next week. — Bernama
