KOTA BARU, Feb 5 — Two married couples were among six Thai nationals detained in separate raids for illegal possession of home-made guns and drugs in Ketereh early yesterday.

Bomb-making paraphernalia were also seized from the suspects aged between 19 and 54.

Kelantan police chief, Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan said in the first raid, a police team nabbed a married couple and a man about 2.30am at a house in Jalan Majlis Daerah Ketereh and seized three home-made guns and bomb-making paraphernalia.

In the other raid, another married couple and a woman were picked up at a house in Kampung Lancang, Ketereh, together with the seizure of a home-made gun, he said here.

“In the two raids, the police seized 164 bullets, and several packets of syabu worth RM250. We believe the seized items were smuggled via an illegal base at the Malaysia-Thailand border in Kelantan.

“We believe the guns were used by the suspects for protection as they were involved in drug trafficking,” Hasanuddin said, adding that the suspects were remanded for two weeks.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, the police detained a man and seized nine bottles of heroin and 1,350 psychotropic pills worth RM33,000, which were hidden at a rubber smallholding in Kampung Tok Uban, Pasir Mas on Friday.
