SUNGAI PETANI, Jan 23 ― The so-called family friend who was caught molesting a child on video will spend the next week in remand as investigations proceed.
The Star reported the man, who was picked up yesterday around 3pm, arriving in court today sporting a black, puffy eye.
It was reported that the right side of his head was shaved, exposing a fresh wound with at least six stitches.
In court, the police claimed the man arrived at the Kuala Muda district headquarters yesterday afternoon looking like he had already taken a beating.
Police are also investigating the beating.
The man is being investigated under Section 14(a) of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 in connection with the video recording.
In the video, he is seen repeatedly kissing a young girl, who clearly tried to avoid his advances, repeatedly on her cheeks while she sat on his lap.
The viral video, originally posted on the Durian Media Facebook page, also showed the man with his hand underneath the child’s dress.
