KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 — Just three weeks into 2018, city police have crippled a major drug distribution syndicate with more than RM4 million worth of drugs seized.

City police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Lazim said this was their biggest seizure for the year to date in a series of raids conducted since early this week.

Acting on tip-off, a special task force arrested two suspects, including a woman aged 29 and 30 inside a car at Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park on Monday night.

Mazlan said initial investigations showed the syndicate were also involved in selling drug laced drinks as it was among the narcotics seized from the suspects.

During the search, police found 10 packets of ecstasy powder kept inside a plastic bag.

Mazlan said following the initial arrest, investigators were led by both suspects to a condominium unit in Taman Salak Selatan later.

“A total of 13.2kg of various drugs mostly ecstasy powder was found in the unit that was turned into a drug warehouse for safekeeping before sent for packaging,” he said today.

He said the duo subsequently led police to the 31-year-old mastermind who was picked up at another condominium in Sunway Damansara, Petaling Jaya around 6.40pm on Tuesday.

During the raid, police found 38.2kg of ecstasy powder within the premises that was used for repackaging before final distribution.

Mazlan said the syndicate had been actively distributing their supplies to entertainment outlets throughout the Klang Valley and Selangor area for about a year.

“This synthetic drugs could have supplied 127,336 individuals if it ended up on the street.

“We do not care who you are, whether you’re a policeman or whoever, we will take action against anyone who is involved with drugs, in our all-out war against drugs,” he said.
