KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz today said city folks need to accept the reality that there will be more high rise residential development as it is inevitable in any developing city.
Mhd Amin said, like any other city in the world, Kuala Lumpur will also experience this in years to come.
“Now we have 1.8 million people in the city. When we reach 3 million, we will see more high rise residential buildings with smaller unit size but expensive,” he said citing examples of Hong Kong, Shenzhen in China and New York.
Mhd Amin was responding to reports about dissatisfaction raised by city folks on the growing number of high rise developments in the city.
He said, all major cities in the world have very little open land.
“Ten years from now the landscape will have to change as there will be more people moving to the city.
“That’s how the future of the city will be like so we will have to change our mindsets.
“The day will come where we need to only use the public transport,” he said after a media briefing this morning on the preparations for the Federal Territories day celebration.
