PUTRAJAYA, Nov 21 — The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has allowed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) time to suggest resolutions to the party’s outstanding internal matters, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The PPBM president said the agency agreed to give his party a few days to submit such proposals, following an hour-long meeting today.

“We have taken the time to explain our situation to RoS, that our status is unique and different from other parties as we are still new and at the formation stage.

“We are glad the RoS heard us out to understand our predicament and that we need some guidance on party matters,” said Muhyiddin, after meeting with RoS director-general Suriyati Ibrahim at her office, here, today.

Muhyiddin said some of the suggestions to be proposed include how his party will conduct its first annual general meeting (AGM) while taking into account its current situation.

PPBM will then consult with its lawyers and advisors to decide which course of action will best satisfy the party's constitution and the Societies Act 1966, he explained.

He then stressed that the party remained valid for the time being.

“I would like to convey to our party members to calm down as things are looking positive and we are satisfied with the outcome of our meet,” he said.

Also present were PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and secretary general Datuk Shaharuddin Md Salleh.

The RoS previously warned PPBM that its failure to conduct the AGM could prevent the party from being eligible to field candidates during the 14th general election.

The issue was also cited as among reasons for the agency's delay in approving the registration of the larger Pakatan Harapan Opposition pact.
