PUTRAJAYA, June 25 — Pak Engku was once again banking on his ‘Nasi Briyani Seri Perdana’ to wow visitors at the Prime Minister’s Aidilfitri open house today.
The Kuzie Katering operator, whose real name is Raja Rosli Raja Mazlan said the dish had been a hit ever since he was given the responsibility of preparing food for open houses hosted by the prime minister and other ministers.
“Every year I will change the menu so that visitors would get to taste my handiwork for themselves. Nasi Briyani Seri Perdana has become a listed item in the menu and this year, my new dishes are ’ayam masak merah’ and ‘rendang tandoor’.
“We prepared food for 70,000 visitors to ensure that each of them could partake of the feast here at Seri Perdana,” he said when met at the event.
Sharing his experience of being the caterer for the annual event, he said he was very particular about the quality of the food he prepared, to ensure visitors’ satisfaction.
Other food servings on the menu for the thousands of guests at the prime minister’s official residence, Seri Perdana, here were ’laksa utara’, ‘mee kari’, ’soto ayam’, ‘kebab’, roast lamb, satay, ‘nasi impit’, lemang and ketupat.
On Najib and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s favourite dishes, Pak Engku who can boast of 25 years of culinary experience revealed that the couple loved ’murtabak daging’ and ’laksa asam’.
At Laman Sari, the specially constructed large tent was crowded with visitors from all walks of life. Some had come as early as 7am. — Bernama
