KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 ― Always wanted a serving of news in Mandarin with your breakfast and throughout the day? You can get your fix now with Malay Mail Online's new Chinese-language section.

Leslie Lau, executive editor of Malay Mail Online, said the launch of the new section today ― just months after the portal’s popular Malay-language section ProjekMMO's launch last October ― will give readers more choice.

“We are very excited about our new Chinese language section.

“We are now serving a wide demographic of readers who can choose to consume news in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese all on one news website,” he said.

Chan Foo Hoong, the executive editor of the new MMO Chinese section known as “M Zhong Wen Wang” in Mandarin, said his team wants to present information that are relevant to readers’ lives.

“We will strive to provide people-centric news to the local and global Chinese audience. We want to provide a different perspective and in-depth analysis with thought-provoking articles.

“We will be independent editorially and non-partisan,” said Chan, who has spent over a decade in the media industry, including in local print and digital media, and a stint with a Singapore broadcaster.

On top of news on local happenings and global events, sports, entertainment, food and travel, MMO Chinese will also keep readers updated on the latest in Singapore. Check it out for commentaries as well.

Malay Mail editor-in-chief Datuk Wong Sai Wan said the Malay Mail Group is always seeking to reach out to as many people as possible through its print, digital and online publications, adding that the new Chinese-language section would help it serve the Mandarin-speaking audience.

M Zhong Wen Wang is our latest offering to all Mandarin speakers and readers who will have an opportunity to read and view our brand of news,” said Wong, who is also Redberry chief operating officer.

“However, our Chinese news will not be a replica of the other sister publications. Its content will be uniquely skewed towards Chinese readers and will have content that will pique their interests,” he said.

M Zhong Wen Wang is another step by the Malay Mail Group towards being a true multi-facet online publisher,” he added.
