MERSING, March 20 — Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) received and evaluated 81,206 applications for the Rumah Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia (RMR1M) or 1Malaysia People Friendly Homes since the programme was introduced in 2002 until February 29 this year.

SPNB Chairman Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad said of the total, 38,147 units had been approved.

“A total of 34,902 units had been completed, 2,193 units are still in the process of construction while 1,052 units are at the agreement documentation level.

“Meanwhile, 24,360 applications had been rejected while 18,699 are still in the eligibility evaluation process list,” he said at the ceremony to hand over the RMR1M Certificate of Eligibility and Work Indent, here yesterday.

Abd Latiff, who is also the Member of Parliament for Mersing, said that for the state of Johor alone, 10,818 applications had been received, of which, 4,319 applications had been approved.

“So far, a total of 4,702 housing units have been completed, 535 units are in the construction stage and 82 others in the agreement documentation process.

“However, 2,843 applications have been rejected for not complying with the conditions of qualification and 2,656 applicants are still on the waiting list,” he added.

Earlier, Abd Latiff handed over the Certificate of Qualification for subsidy amounting to RM20,000 to 29 eligible applicants and RMR1M Work Indents to 10 selected contractors involving 29 RMR1M work indents. — Bernama
