KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 — Australian actress Eliza Szonert is believed to be stranded in Malaysia without her passport after an argument with her estranged partner who is reportedly working in the country.
Australian paper Sydney Morning Herald reported today Szonert’s mother Kay as saying that her 41-year-old daughter had gone to Malaysia with her son to visit Eliza’s ex-partner Ashley Crick, who is an Australian businessman.
Kay reportedly said Eliza, who is based in Melbourne, and Crick had a dispute and the actress who used to star in Australian drama series “Neighbours” had been told to leave the apartment without her passport, and without her child.
Sydney Morning Herald reported Kay as saying that she believed Crick, who is working as chief technology officer at video streaming platform iflix in Malaysia, was holding Eliza’s passport.
Eliza also has tried to get her son back but has not seen him for over a week, Kay was quoted saying.
Sydney Morning Herald noted that one of Australia’s most infamous custody battles had occurred in Malaysia, when Terengganu prince Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad, who is also Kuala Terengganu MP from Amanah, abducted two children in 1992 from his Australian ex-wife Jacqueline Gillespie, who had received custody of them.
He had reportedly taken his children to Malaysia by boat.
