SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 — The Selangor State Assembly sitting turned into a political battle field today following the tabling of a motion by a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) assemblyman for the federal government to provide immediate medical treatment to PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The motion was tabled by Dr Xavier Jayakumar (PKR-Seri Andalas) and seconded by Rodziah Ismail (PKR-Batu Tiga).
Dr Dr Xavier claimed that Anwar, currently serving jail sentence for sodomising his personal aide, was not given proper medical treatment.
Budiman Mohd Zohdi (BN-Sungai Panjang), when debating the motion, questioned the rationale for tabling of the motion as it did not involve the interests of the Selangor people.
“A motion like this should be raised in Parliament since PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, Gombak Member of Parliament and Anwar’s daughter, Nurul Izzah, the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament are there,” he added.
The sitting was adjourned sine die. — Bernama
