KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — The man who was found dead near the Bandar Tasik Selatan Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd Station on Saturday was an Indian national.
Cheras District Police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said a post mortem at 11 am yesterday attributed the 39-year-old man’s death to “multiple injuries consistent with being run over by a train”.
“Preliminary examination at the scene of the incident at 11.50 am yesterday, found the headless body with serious bodily injuries on the rail.
“The deceased is believed to be one of the passengers of the ERL from Salak TInggi, Sepang based on a ticket which was purchased from the Salak Tinggi counter at 6.28 pm on Saturday,” he said in a media statement here, yesterday.
Chong said the victim was believed to be heading to KL Sentral but had embarked one station earlier at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Bandar Tasek Salak Selatan.
He also said the victim made the mistake of walking on the ERL railway to go to KL Sentral in darkness instead of using the road.
“It is believed the victim had no intention of committing suicide,” he said.
He said the victim was also believed to be unemployed, a drunk, debt-ridden and did ask a witness to retrieve a passport which he used as collateral to pay his debt.
He was run over by the ERL which was heading towards the KL Sentral Station at 9.30pm on Saturday.
Several parts of the man’s body were sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
