KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 — Perak’s Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) today said they will take action against Ibrahim Mat Zin, the infamous Raja Bomoh, once the fatwa declaring his teachings as “deviant” is gazetted.

Local Malay daily Sinar Harian today quoted the department’s director, Datuk Mohd Yusop Husin, as saying that they insisted on the decision following news that the state’s fatwa council has met this week to discuss.

“After meeting two days ago, the Perak Fatwa Council has decided that the bomoh’s teachings were illegal and deviant from Islamic teachings,” Yusop said.

“On our (JAIPk) side, we shall wait until the fatwa is gazetted before taking any action. So far, we only find him who did such superstitious practises.”

Ibrahim shot to fame with his airport antics during the incident of the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 last year.

He was recorded performing supernatural rituals that he claimed will help an international search and rescue operation for the missing jet in Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
