PARIS, Feb 9 — From bouncing curls to bold eyeshadow, there were some innovative beauty looks on show at the menswear fashion weeks for Autumn/Winter 2016 that swept through London, Milan and Paris before wrapping up in New York last week. Here are the main trends to emerge.
Messy hair
From shaggy to shoulder-length, long and messy hair is definitely getting its moment next season. In Milan, Calvin Klein models had their locks styled into flicked-out layers, while in London Alexander McQueen and Burberry both debuted ruffled looks that gave the guys a just-rolled-out-of-bed vibe. The look even made it to clean-cut New York, where John Varvantos adopted the trend. The focus was on the natural, and as such there were plenty of curls—from big and voluminous curls at Etro to wild and romantic at Giorgio Armani.
Makeup
In a bold nod to equality, several designers opted to prove that makeup isn’t just for the female models. The approach was mainly adopted in theatrical Paris, where Vivienne Westwood sent her models out wearing vibrant eyeshadow that matched the color of their shirts in unmissable shades such as electric blue and tangerine, and Moncler Gamme Bleu painted faces red, white and blue in a camouflage frenzy. Meanwhile Emporio Armani nodded to Goth style with a hint of black eye makeup in Milan.
Wet look
There was plenty of wet-look beauty on the catwalks, with Rick Owens and Louis Vuitton opting for totally slicked-down hair that lay flat across the head in Paris. Prada followed suit in Milan, where Giorgio Armani also debuted wet-look curls, while in New York Steven Cox’s models sported a sweaty, just-worked-out sheen all over their skin. — AFP-Relaxnews
