LOS ANGELES, Sept 8 ― J-pop is probably the hardest genre of Japanese music to categorize or describe.

Japanese pop is a musical genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. And as is the case for pop music, a great deal of different sounds tend to fall under this label.

So how would the general American crowd feel about J-pop? BuzzFeed got a few people to listen to Japanese pop music for the first time to see what they thought about the genre.
