CYBERJAYA, Sept 11 — The BMW X6, hitherto available as a CBU (Fully imported) model has now joined the ranks of the CKD (locally assembled) BMW models available here in Malaysia.
BMW Group Malaysia officially announced this to the media on Wednesday. The new locally-assembled BMW X6 model is the xDrive35i M Sport.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Alan Harris, Managing Director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The introduction of the locally-assembled BMW X6 marks the ninth model to join the portfolio of BMW Group Malaysia’s locally assembled vehicles. This is further testament to the longstanding investment and commitment we have here in Malaysia.”
“Up till the month of August, we have delivered a total of 5,610 vehicles in the country, consisting of 4,475 BMW, 481 MINI and 654 BMW Motorrad vehicles. I am confident that BMW Group Malaysia will continue to grow as we mirror the success of our global counterparts,” said Harris.
Notable features in the locally-assembled X6 include standard fitment of the M Sport package which offers the M Aerodynamics package and Adaptive M Suspension, with features such as 20” M double spoke light alloy wheels with mixed tyres.
Inside, the M Sport Package also features electrically adjustable sports seats with memory function for the front seats, M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and paddle shifters as well as Sport gear selector lever. The elegant contours of the new X6 meanwhile will feature an anthracite-coloured BMW Individual headliner and Aluminium Hexagon interior trim.
At the heart of the action is a three-litre six-cylinder inline petrol engine generating outputs of 306hp and 400Nm of peak torque, and is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 240 kph.
Coupled with an eight-speed Steptronic sport transmission for shift quality and fuel economy, the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is rated at an average fuel consumption of 8.6l/100km and CO2 emissions level of 200g/km.
Meanwhile, the X6’s advanced chassis layout with double-wishbone front suspension and intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system is complemented by Dynamic Damper Control and pneumatic rear suspension with a deliberately sporty tuning as part of its standard M Sport Suspension offering.
Another unique drive assistance system available in the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive 35i M Sport is Surround View 360 which allows for perfect all-round visibility when parking, manoeuvring and navigating in spaces. New to the locally-assembled model is Driving Assistant, a camera-based system which combines Lane Departure Warning with Approach Warning and Pedestrian Warning with city braking function serve to alert the driver whenever the vehicle is about to stray outside the limits of its lane.
Additional infotainment services include BMW Apps which provide the basis for smartphone integration including in-car access to Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and more.
The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is available in Alpine White, Flamenco Red, Carbon Black and Space Grey, with a range of Leather Dakota upholstery colour choices including Black, Coral Red and Cognac.
The estimated retail prices (on the road, without insurance with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Programme) of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is RM666,888.
