KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd’s best-seller, the Nissan Almera, gets its customary mid-life facelift, sporting a bolder and more dynamic appearance.
Compared to the pre-facelift model, the new one can be easily identified by its redesigned front bumper with signature three-dimensional front grille and new multi-reflector headlamps, chrome-highlighted fog lamps, sleek wing mirror signal lights and new Y-Spoke 15-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the new Almera comes fitted with an elegant new steering wheel with integrated audio controls, Fine Vision Meter with Multi Information Display, and a redesigned centre console in premium piano black. The excellent cabin space and rear legroom, which are its main selling points, in addition to its great fuel economy, are retained.
Powered by the dependable 1.5-litre HR15DE engine, the Almera has become a mainstay in the B-segment market going against the likes of the Honda City and Toyota Vios. Since its launch in October 2012, the Almera has quickly established itself as the best-selling Nissan model in the country, with over 56,000 units currently plying Malaysian roads.
Customers have a choice of four variants with further avenues of customisation possible through the offering of various optional accessory packages. All variants are offered with automatic transmissions, with the base E grade the only one getting a manual option; prices start at RM66,900 for the manual E model going all the way to RM79,900 for the range-topping VL grade.
Options available include a couple of Navi packages that feature the latest, first-in-segment Android-based Multimedia Navigation system with a 6.5-inch screen. The system offers internet connectivity with Virtual Acoustic Positioning System (VAPS), Rear View Camera, iPod connectivity, USB and Bluetooth.
Those looking to elevate their Almera driving experience can opt for the RM14,000 Nismo Performance Package consisting of a front and rear bumper spoiler, side skirts, trunk lid spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels with Continental MC5 tyres, sports exhaust, and sports suspension.
Alternatively, customers can also choose the RM9,000 Nismo Aero Package which omits the sports exhaust and
suspension from the above range of items. In conjunction with Nismo’s 30th Anniversary, however, ETCM is offering customers attractive deals and discounts on these Nismo packages.
“The ever-popular Nissan Almera is much loved for its value-for-money, thoughtful practicality, and now, it comes with innovative features that perfectly marry elegance with sportiness through the new NISMO Packages. With this refinement, this model is not only economical, but very stylish — and showcases our continued commitment towards providing affordable and attractive car ownership to Malaysians.” said Tan Keng Meng, the drector of marketing and product planning of ETCM.
The new Nissan Almera is available in five colours — graphite blue, diamond black, bronze gold, brilliant white and tungsten silver. It is available at all Nissan showrooms nationwide.
