KUCHING, Oct 31 — Police have confirmed that the body found inside a car parked at a shopping mall along Jalan Song here on Wednesday was that of a woman reported missing several days ago.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report at 1.55pm from a member of the public who found an unconscious woman inside a vehicle at the mall’s parking area.
He said a team was dispatched to the scene to verify the report and found the woman lying in the driver’s seat.
“Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were called to assist in opening the vehicle, which was locked from the inside.
“The woman was later confirmed dead by medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Alexson said the deceased, in her 20s, was identified as the woman who had been reported missing in the Tabuan Jaya area on October 25.
Her body has been sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem.
“Initial investigations at the scene found no criminal elements, and the case has been classified as sudden death,” he added.
Police have urged the public not to speculate on the incident out of respect for the victim’s family.
