NEW DELHI, Nov 17 — AirAsia India is set to expand its network by adding three more destinations from Pune, the second-largest metropolis in the state of Maharashtra.

According to the Pune Mirror, the first flight out of Pune will be to Chandigarh on November 30.

AirAsia India has also scheduled services to Jaipur and Goa from Pune.

“AirAsia is launching the Bangalore-Pune-Goa, Bangalore-Pune-Chandigarh and Bangalore-Pune-Jaipur routes from November 30,” Pune Mirror quoted Pune airport director Manoj Kumar Gangal as saying.  “These flights will be on a daily basis.”

The flights will benefit tourism immensely, Pune Travel Agent Association (PTAA) director Nilesh Bhansali said.

According to the Pune Mirror, tourism to places such as Shimla-Kulu-Manali depends on Chandigarh as it’s the closest airport.

“Besides, the number of people visiting Goa is also on the rise,” said Nilesh said. “There are currently only two flights to Goa. An additional flight will definitely get an overwhelming response.”
