NEW YORK, March 31 — With its suitably subtle design plus a focus on quality and features, the Lumigon T2 HD looks set to be a premium smartphone worth its premium price tag.

Crafted from stainless steel for a pleasingly minimalist yet premium appearance, the latest Lumigon handset, the T2 HD, offers more than just good looks and a bit of attention when it comes to build quality.

Take its front-facing camera, for instance. It’s a decent 2.4 megapixel unit, but it also has its own flash so that selfies always come out as intended, even in low light conditions. And of course the flash will also help to balance moving images when making video calls too.

Then there’s storage. The phone can be specified with a huge 128GB of memory on board — something that will be very handy when considering what is the handset’s killer feature — a Bang & Olufsen sound system that includes in-the-ear headphones as well as integrated stereo speakers. So, space for music will be a necessity, as will space for photos because as well as the selfie cam, there’s a 13-megapixel camera on the rear.

While other companies in the luxury handset segment are preoccupied with affixing as many crystals as possible to their phones’ rear casings or recasting badges in precious metals, Lumigon has put the emphasis on functionality.

Other smart touches include an equally-well designed dock that will automatically switch the phone to silent and black out its screen when connected. Because, let’s face it, as well as consigning the compact digital camera to the history books, the smartphone has essentially replaced the bedside alarm clock too.

It will even be getting an over-the-air update to the latest version of Android later this year. One drawback, however, is that the phone’s 4.3-inch display only offers a 720p resolution at a time when full HD is becoming standard even on mid-tier devices. Its chipset isn’t particularly powerful either — a 1.7 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon. Still one trend it is completely on top off is waterproofing. The phone, including its headphone jack, is water and dust resistant.

The stainless steel Lumigon T2 HD will go on sale this summer with a US$1,000 (RM3,263) price tag, and a special, even more limited edition 24K gold version is also planned. — AFP-Relaxnews
