NEW YORK, March 30 — The Texas Motor Speedway, which hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series among other races, has just demonstrated the “Big Hoss TV,” which it is touting as the world's biggest HD screen. The mammoth TV measures 218 x 94.6 feet (66.4x28.8 meters) and weighs 108 tons.
The HD (1080p) screen has 4.8 million pixels and a 140° viewing angle, so it is visible to all of the fans in the speedway's stands.
The “Big Hoss TV” is as large as Washington's Lincoln Memorial and covers a surface equivalent to that of seven Olympic-size pools. If those stats aren't enough to impress you, consider this: one could fit 2,081 standard 60-inch TVs, 373 race cars, or two commercial airplanes on the surface of the monster screen.
The screen was made with help from Panasonic and has been set up in time for the Texas 500 NASCAR race, scheduled to take place on April 6. — AFP-Relaxnews
