PUTRAJAYA, Jan 27 — The Royal Malaysia Police Football Association (PDRM FA) can expect a handsome reward including bonus of half a million ringgit if the team succeeds in bagging the Premier League title this season.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the incentive was meant to galvanise ‘The Cops’ towards the Super League crown which they wrested in 2015.

“In fact, to further motivate the team in achieving the mission, chief coach Zulhamizan Zakaria has also offered a reward of RM100,000.

“For this season, Deputy IGP Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim as PDRM FA will make the effort to attend every match whether on home ground or away, aside from coming to watch the training sessions,” he said while launching the new PDRM FA squad and jersey for the Premier League 2018 here, today.

Ahmad  Zahid who is also Home Minister said winning the premier league was nothing new to the team as victory had been theirs in 2007 and 2014.

Although they were currently placed eighth this season, he is confident the squad would create a sensation with the structure and formula that Zulhamizan, a former national and Pahang player, was going to apply.

The deputy prime minister has also targeted for ‘Sang Saka Biru’ to wrest the “Fair Play” award.

Ahmad Zahid said qualification for the FA Cup and Malaysia Cup would serve as the key performance indicator for the players, coach and management team.

Based on their success in securing a berth in the semifinals of the Malaysia Cup in 2016 and quarterfinals in the FA Cup, the target was not impossible, he said.

Other than Zulhamizan’s appointment, replacing Mohd Fauzi Pilus, the PDRM squad has also been boosted with four new import players, Petrisor Voinea from Romania, Argzim Redzovic (Montenegro), Sim Woon Sub (South Korea ) and Shunsuke Nakatake (Japan). — Bernama
