KUALA LUMPUR, October 15 — The first season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is unlike any other MCU’s series finales so far.

The first season of the nine-episode series wrapped up the season with a massive fourth wall breaking by She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters played by Emmy-winning actress Tatiana Maslany.

The episode mirrors an issue from the 1993 She-Hulk comic run where Jen Walters storms the offices of Marvel Comics to demand better storylines.

The somewhat comical finale is a change of pace for fans as it is the opposite of what other MCU series have previously done so far with their show’s endings, according to creator Jessica Gao.

In fact, she was in disbelief when she first got the go-ahead to proceed.

Speaking to Malay Mail, Gao said that initially they thought the finale was going to go through the typical Marvel finale direction normally involving a big battle showdown.

She was however given the freedom by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige himself to go another direction.

"It was just so nice and freeing to find out that we don’t have to go that way and we could do something so wild and unexpected.

"I can’t describe to you how great it is to be able to do that. I was just so surprised and delighted.

"There was a tiny bit of disbelief that I thought ‘well maybe they’re saying yes now, but if we keep going down this road it maybe becomes a ‘no’, but it never turns into a ‘no’ and that was so great,” Gao said.

She added that she was very happy with the series outcome as she felt the team have managed to ‘tell a complete story’ for its first season.

"Most reactions I’ve seen have been overwhelmingly positive; I mean there’s always going to be trolls, there’s always going to be haters and there’s always people who aren’t going to like it.

"But the show is made for those who loved it,” she said.

The series was heavily criticised by fans for its CGI rendition especially during its first trailer drop last May.

Asked on the possibility of season two, Gao said that she would love some time to recover before taking on another one.

"You know how I feel right now, my friends who have children, they all told me that the moment they had their first baby everyone starts asking when you are going to have a second one?

"And they would say ‘we just gave birth’- and I feel like I just gave birth and everybody is asking me if I’m going to have a second baby, I just want some time to recover,” she said.

However, Gao expressed that she would love to see more of Maslany’s She-Hulk in the future as she describes the comic book’s character as wonderful while describing Maslany as an unparalleled talent.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as an attorney specialising in superhuman-oriented legal cases, while also leading the life of being a superpowered hulk after a blood transfusion with cousin, Bruce Banner aka Hulk, played by actor Mark Ruffalo.

The show also stars Tim Roth as Abomination, Ginger Gonzanga as Nikki Ramos as well as the introduction of Charlie Cox as the MCU’s devil of hell’s kitchen, Daredevil.

The full first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is available to stream at Disney+ Hotstar.
