LONDON, Oct 27 — Olivia Colman has been tapped to play Queen Elizabeth II in Seasons Three and Four of The Crown.

Variety was the first to report the news.

The British actress, best known for her roles in The Lobster, Broadchurch and The Night Manager, will replace Claire Foy who won a Golden Globe for her role in the popular Netflix period drama.

The Crown producers had said previously that they would be recasting the series after Season Two to accurately reflect the Queen's age during the time period being portrayed.

It has not been announced who will replace Matt Smith as the Queen’s husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The new season of The Crown will premiere on December 8. It is expected to cover the Queen's life from the late 50s to the mid-60s.
