LOS ANGELES, Nov 19 — James Gunn is putting his money where his mouth is.
On Facebook Thursday, the Guardians of the Galaxy director fielded a question about a much sought-after Easter Egg in the 2014 Marvel film, with a fan asking if he plans on ever revealing it. Gunn responded that he had no plans on revealing the Easter Egg, which the director first teased two years ago and so far nobody has found.
This answer prompted another fan to cry foul: “He won’t reveal it because it doesn’t exist. The ultimate troll.”
Gunn brought out the big guns in his response, vowing to pay the commenter US$100,000 (RM400,000) if there is no Easter Egg.
News of the missing Easter Egg first came to light in November 2014, when Gunn was doing press for the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray.
“There’s definitely one really big thing that people haven’t seen, but they may never see it — we’ll see. There’s other things, too,” Gunn told ComicBook.com (which also spotted the US$100,000 offer.)
Gunn maintains a close relationship with fans thanks to his active social media accounts, where questions about this Easter Egg pop up often (though not as much as requests to know when the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer will arrive.)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit cinemas May 5, 2017. — The Hollywood Reporter/Bloomberg
