LOS ANGELES, April 27 — Rachel Roy has finally responded to the rumours that accuse her of being “Becky with the good hair”.

As everyone knows by now, Beyonce called out her husband Jay Z for cheating on her in her new album Lemonade.

Most notably, the song Sorry had the lyrics: “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair”.

Shortly after the release of the album, Roy shared a photo on Instagram with the words “good hair don’t care” in the caption.

Naturally, the Beyhive saw that as a sign that the designer was definitely “Becky with the good hair,” and trolled her account with bee emojis and scathing comments.

They even did the same to her daughters’ accounts. Things got so bad Roy made her account private.

Yesterday, Roy released a statement to People magazine, saying that she wanted to put the speculation and rumours to rest.

“I want to put the speculation and rumours to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that,” she said.

“There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumours.

“Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother — and I know many mothers would agree — I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable,” she added. “I would hope that the media sees the real issue here — the issue of cyberbullying — and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”

A bit of a backstory: You may recall the infamous elevator video of Beyonce’s sister, Solange, attacking Jay Z after the 2014 Met Gala.

It has been rumoured that Solange had confronted Roy before the altercation took place.

Multiple sources said that she lashed out at Jay because of his “close” relationship with Roy.

Roy, for her part, is no stranger to hip-hop circles. Her ex-husband is Damon Dash, a former friend and business partner of Jay, whose relationship soured over rumours of love triangles, feuds and betrayals. The pair no longer speak.

Meanwhile, the fact that Beyonce and her camp have chosen to stay mum about the whole issue means the rumours will probably not die anytime soon.

After all, isn’t she one to always stand up for women who are wronged?
