LOS ANGELES, March 11 ― Dive into a world of action, intrigue, and gross-out comedy with the story of two brothers reconnecting under strained circumstances in Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest feature film, Grimsby.

Who’s in it?

Sacha Baron Cohen has become well known for a number of aggressively satirical comedy characters: Ali G, Borat, and The Dictator persona Admiral General Aladeen among them.

He’s also been developing a film acting CV that encompasses more than provocative comedy, with appearances in Hugo, Anchorman 2, Les Misérables and an upcoming turn in Alice Through the Looking Glass to his name.

In Grimsby, he plays soccer hooligan Nobby Butcher, who, having grown up in foster homes in a northern English town, at last reconnects with long lost brother Sebastian, exhaustively educated and Britain’s premier secret service agent.

The pair could not be more different but are forced to co-operate as the net closes in on Seb and his bungling, big-hearted brother.

Mark Strong of The Imitation Game, Tinker, Tailor.. and Kingsman plays Seb, with support from a sparkling cast including Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) Baron Cohen’s wife Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby), plus Penélope Cruz and Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) among other topliners.

Who wrote it?

Grimsby (or The Brothers Grimsby as it’s known in some territories) was written by Baron Cohen and experienced comic Peter Baynham, the pair having worked together on both Brüno and Borat, while Baynham’s credits run a gamut of British comedy programmes including Fist of Fun, The Day Today, I’m Alan Partridge and Brass Eye. Also on board is Phil Johnston whose two most recent produced screenplays were for Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia.

Who’s directing?

There could be a new voice in international gross-out comedy with France’s Louis Leterrier at the helm, though his previous films were primarily action-oriented: the first two in the Transporter franchise, The Incredible Hulk and, also with Isla Fisher, Now You See Me among them.

When’s it out?

Grimsby releases the week of March 11 in a clutch of territories including the USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, as well as Malaysia and Singapore. It opens in Hong Kong on March 31 with the Philippines joining from April 20. — AFP-Relaxnews
