LOS ANGELES, June 15 — This year’s Cannes Film Festival saw the premiere of the new movie from French director Olivier Assayas. In ‘The Clouds of Sils Maria’, star Juliette Binoche is joined by up-and-coming American starlets Kristen Stewart and Chloë Grace Moretz.
Assayas wrote the screenplay as well as directing the picture, and he had his star already in mind when he was creating the piece.
For Stewart, it was a chance to play a smaller role in a more artistic film, a real relief after her work on the ‘Twilight’ franchise.
‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ makes fun of big Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Twilight’. Does this mean that Kristen feels appearing in the franchise was a mistake? She said, "Oh, I've made many mistakes, but you know, comfortable with them."
Juliette faced an interesting challenge in playing a character that had been written expressly based on her.
Working with a legend like Binoche was quite a treat for the young American stars while Olivier treats all of his performers equally.
‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ can be seen in cinemas worldwide this December. — Cover Media
