KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 — Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning, boosted by buying interest in selected heavyweights led by CIMB and Genting Malaysia, as investors’ sentiment improved on the back of a stronger Wall Street performance overnight.  

At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.05 points to 1,790.49 from yesterday’s close of 1,784.44, after opening 4.89 points better at 1,789.33.

Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 338 to 306, while 387 counters were unchanged, 772 untraded and 29 others suspended. 

Turnover stood at 641.49 million shares worth RM533.32 million.

CIMB gained seven sen to RM6.68 and Genting Malaysia jumped 10 sen to RM5.73. 

Among other heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank both rose two sen to RM9.59 and RM20.40, respectively, while TNB increased six sen to RM14.44, Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.62 and Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM7.20.   

Actively traded stocks this morning included Dagang Nexchange which rose three sen to 61.5 sen, Priceworth inched up half-a-sen to 27.5 sen while Compugates was flat at 3.5 sen. 

The FBM Emas Index expanded 39.45 points to 12,769.74, the FBMT100 Index went up 39.89 points to 12,408.76, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 14.42 points to 12,993.54, the FBM 70 improved 41.5 points to 15,242.34 and the FBM Ace climbed 20.06 points to 6,372.83.

On a sectorial basis, the Finance Index was 54.48 points higher to 16,846.03, the Plantation Index fell 17.43 points to 7,919.96 and the Industrial Index declined 4.65 points at 3,285.09. — Bernama
