KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Bursa Malaysia was marginally higher at mid-afternoon today but in rangebound trading, with buying interspersing with selling in bluechip counters.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,690.20, up 0.63 of-a-point from yesterday’s close of 1,689.57.
It opened 1.96 points better at 1,691.53.
On the broader market, decliners led advancers by 378 to 313, while 369 counters were unchanged, 610 untraded and 14 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 961.33 billion shares worth RM777.68 million.
Among heavyweights, TNB gained four sen to RM14.60, Public Bank eased two sen to RM19.90, while Maybank, IHH and Petronas Chemicals were flat at RM7.90, RM6.65 and RM6.70, respectively.
The most actively-traded stocks were Sanichi which shed half-a-sen to 9.5 sen, NWP Holdings and Century Logistics slid 7.5 sen each to 31 sen and 96.5 sen respectively, and M3 Technologies warrant was flat at 3.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index improved 4.13 points to 11,878.51, FBMT 100 Index added 3.93 points to 11,583.13, FBM 70 gained 3.15 points at 13,729.42, the FBM Ace improved 25.37 points to 5,328.49 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 7.47 points higher at 12,511.90.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index shed 6.64 points to 14,543.91, the Industrial Index slipped 4.42 points for 3,159.50 but the Plantation Index rose 22.69 points to 7,867.94. — Bernama
