KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — Gains in heavyweight stocks lifted the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) to help it breach the 1,830 points-level at mid-morning today.
At 11am, the benchmark index stood at 1,835.83 points, up 10.15 points, after opening 0.87 of-a-point higher at 1,826.55 points, boosted by gains in Petronas-linked and Hong Leong-linked stocks.
Hong Leong Financial Group improved 34 sen to RM17.98, Hong Leong Bank appreciated 18 sen to RM14.26, while Petronas Gas and Petronas Dagangan rose 16 sen each to RM22.04 and RM20.10 respectively.
Among other heavyweights, Maybank gained 1.0 sen to RM9.71, Tenaga Nasional increased 4.0 sen to RM13.12 and Public Bank was up 6.0 sen to RM18.60.
Of the active stocks, Efficient E-Solutions gained 2.0 sen to 34 sen and YGL rose 3.5 sen to RM33 sen.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 396 to 162, while 268 counters were unchanged, 810 untraded and 27 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 722.53 million shares worth RM483.8 million.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index increased 61.02 points to 12,729.07 points, the FBMT100 Index bagged 55.08 points to 12,370.95 points, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 75.64 points to 13,163.93 points.
The FBM 70 was 11.06 points higher at 13,907.31 points; the FBM Ace improved 67.13 points to 6,482.88 points, while the Plantation Index advanced 61.19 points to 8,369.48 points.
The Industrial Index appreciated 12.1 points to 3,220.83 points and the Finance Index surged 98.86 points to 16,724.26 points. — Bernama
