MELAKA, June 1 — The service contracts of 16 heads of Melaka government agencies were terminated when the state government decided not to renew their contracts and secondment period which ended yesterday.

Chief Minister Adly Zahari said in a statement today that they were:

  • Jasin Municipal Council president Shadan Othman
  • Melaka Foundation general manager Datuk Zaini Mohd Nor
  • Melaka Rivers and Beaches Corporation chief executive officer Nazary Ahmad
  • Melaka Biotechnology Corporation chief executive officer Badrul Hisham Badruddin
  • Putra Specialist Hospital (Melaka) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Mohd Salleh Jusman
  • Pembangunan Pertanian Melaka Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Isnin Aman
  • Melaka Taming Sari general manager Ali Kasmin
  • Zakat Melaka chief executive officer Datuk Ibrahim Fadzil

At a press conference after the state exco meeting yesterday, Adly said the state government had abolished the six departments and units to avoid duplication of functions and roles besides reviewing the status and requirements of two other agencies.

Meanwhile, Adly directed the Alor Gajah District Officer to study and review the railway land ownership application in three areas in the district to give an opportunity to people who were qualified to get ownership of the land.

“This is to ensure that there are no malpractices and cronyism being carried out. The land ownership process being carried out in Belimbing Dalam, Beringin and Durian Tunggal (in the district) is being postponed,” he added. — Bernama
