MELAKA, May 29 — The National Anti-drug Agency (AADK) in Melaka detained 30 suspected drug addicts including a married couple in an ‘Operasi Perdana’ about two hours before breaking of fast last night.

Its state deputy director A. Reuben said the individuals aged between 24 and 58 were intercepted while they were heading to a drug ‘port’ located at the Krubong landfill here.

“The raid was carried out based on public tip-off and intelligence. The woman was aged 24; her husband aged 52, who is also a former civil servant was found positive for heroin and methamphetamine,” he told reporters here last night. 

He said 100g of drugs believed to be heroin as well as drug paraphernalia were seized in the five-hour operation mounted by 35 Melaka AADK officers and personnel.

Reuben said 25 of the individuals would be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependents (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, while five Persons Under Supervision would be charged for violating the conditions by continuing to use drugs. — Bernama
