BUKIT MERTAJAM, May 27 — A man was detained to assist investigation into the shooting case where a mobile telephone salesman was wounded after being shot at the Jalan Sentosa traffic light near the Taman Sentosa food court, here yesterday night.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) OCPD, ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the man, aged in his 40’s, was detained at Tanjung Tokong on the island at 10.30pm yesterday.
“A remand order had been obtained from the Magistrate’s Court for six days until June 6,” he said in a statement, here today.
Nik Ros Azhan said his men had taken statements from the witness and the victim’s friend as well as the driver of a Toyota Hilux to assist the investigation under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
He said the victim was now in stable condition and was still receiving treatment at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
In the incident at about 11.15am, the 22-year-old man was injured on the right arm and shoulder as well as the thigh after being shot in the incident at the traffic light in Jalan Sentosa near the Taman Sentosa food court, here.
The victim had just come out from the Sentosa Corner food court after having breakfast with his friend and entering his Honda Accord car to return home in Machang Bubuk, here.
When the victim stopped at the traffic light at Jalan Sentosa, here, a man whose face was covered appeared suddenly and fired several shots at the victim’s car before fleeing. — Bernama
