PUTRAJAYA, May 24 — Around 50 Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) members delivered a memorandum alleging power abuse by the prime minister to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today.

Led by former Finance Ministry Strategic Communications director Datuk Lokman Noor Adam and JMM president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah, they asked the MACC to investigate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over incidents from his previous term as PM.

“Today, we handed over a memorandum to the MACC, to uphold their motto of being free, honest and professional, and investigate these 13 complaints lodged by current and former leaders,” said Lokman.

Lokman claimed among the complainants were Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Lim Guan Eng, who had previously lodged reports of abuse of power against Dr Mahathir.

Among the cases were the Perwaja Steel scandal, Bank Negara’s forex currency speculations, the source of Dr Mahathir’s family wealth and the acquisition of Malaysia Airlines Berhad.

Lokman added that he lodged a police report at the Kelana Jaya police station yesterday against MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull over his allegations that a member of parliament had tried to bribe him, during a tell-all press conference on Tuesday.
