KOTA KINABALU, May 12 ― The  power tussle for the Sabah state government continues as chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman chaired his first Cabinet meeting today, amid reports of a swearing-in ceremony at the palace tonight.

Deputy chief minister Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said that he was in a meeting with the Cabinet, where Musa showed no indications of stepping down.

“We only discusses admin matters. I have no idea if he is resigning. How can you swear in two CMs?,” he said when met at the state administrative building after the meeting today.

Musa had met with the head of state earlier today and subsequently palace sources said there would a ceremony tonight.

Meanwhile Parti Warisan Sabah leaders said that they have been invited to the palace for a ceremony tonight.

On rumours of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad coming to Sabah, Kitingan said that it would be inappropriate for federal to interfere in state matters again.

“Do we want a repeat of 1994? We should  respect the people’s mandate. If we allow in and outs we are destroying the mandate of the people. We cannot be playing with the rights of the people.

“How can the federal government bully the state? It will be like the same thing all over again. This is not good for true rights or the people,” said Kitingan.

He said that the BN had the majority of the state seats first post election and the subsequent party hopping has jeopardised the country’s stability.

“We have to stop this if want to see growth and stability of the country, let the country move on. Let’s work together. We don’t mind working together,” he said.
