KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — DAP’s Hannah Yeoh will be contesting the Segambut parliamentary seat, where she will face Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Loga Bala Mohan and Mohd Solleh Abd Razak from PAS.

The names were finalised by the Election Commission (EC) following a short vetting at the Bukit Damansara national school on Nomination Day today.

Yeoh was transferred from the Subang Jaya state assembly seat for her first federal battle, while incumbent Lim Lim Eng was sent to contest the Kepong seat.

Loga Bala, a former Senator with the Dewan Negara, is contesting in the sole seat allocated to BN component MyPPP for the May 9 polls.

The seat was previously offered to the party’s president Tan Sri M. Kayveas, who was reported as having been sacked from his party after demanding the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

PAS candidate Mohd Solleh is a newcomer, being the youngest of the three at 33-years-old and faces two well-known candidates.

This is the first attempt by the party to capture the Segambut federal seat, making it a three-cornered contest in what was previously the battleground for BN component MCA and DAP.

The candidates arrived at the nomination centre at 9am and were officially announced as contenders by EC returning officer Datin Noor Akma Shabuddin at 11am.

Mohd Solleh drew the first place on the ballot, with Loga Bala and Yeoh coming in second and third respectively.

No independent candidates are contesting the seat.
