KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim called today for respect of differences, after issuing controversial comments on politics.
“We have to accept the fact that we are all different, whether differences in politics, race, religion or beliefs. We are all different but what must remain is respect. Because without respect amongst one another, we are nothing but animals.
“At the end of the day, politicians have to understand that they need to serve the people and not the ideology of a political party. No matter what happens, don’t burden the people and that should always be their priority,” Tunku Ismail said in a statement on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.
In a Facebook post on the Johor Southern Tigers page on Saturday night, Tunku Ismail launched a thinly-veiled attack on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, without naming him, and warned Johoreans not to be duped by a “forked-tongue” individual.
He also said changing a country’s fate and improving the system was not by bringing down a government, but by changing it from within.
However, the top comments on the Facebook post disagreed with the Johor crown prince, with Malaysians saying they were suffering and they would vote against Barisan Nasional (BN).
Tunku Ismail later denied having any political bias.
