TATAU (Sarawak), Feb 10 — The Air Unit of the Fire and Rescue Department today deployed its Mi-171 helicopter to deliver 14 tonnes of food supplies to 4,354 residents affected by floods in the district.
National Disaster Management Agency officer Farhan Sufyan Borhan said 10 personnel of the Air Unit led by Mohd Ruzaidi Ramlee were involved in the mission which began at 10.54am.
The helicopter delivered food supplies to two longhouses, namely Rumah Dilang and Rumah Thomas for distribution to 4,354 recipients living nearby, he said when met at the Tatau Sports Hall here today.
Farhan Sufyan said the food delivery mission was also assisted by the police, Civil Defence Force, Social Welfare Department, Volunteers Department of Malaysia and the Malaysian Armed Forces.
He said the mission would be continued tomorrow whereby, food would be delivered to the Rumah Barat longhouse in Ulu Sungai Anap. — Bernama
