JOHOR BARU, Jan 21 — The Kluang district has been hit by by floods following non-stop rain the last 24 hours and saw 348 people from 82 families evacuated to three flood relief centres.
Johor Health , Environment, Education and Information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the areas hit were Kampung Chokro, Kampung Shaari and Kampung Kolam Air, all in Simpang Renggam.
The three FRCs were opened in stages from 9pm yesterday to 1am today, he said in a statement here .
However, he said floodwaters were subsiding in Kampung Chokro as at 8am He added that the water level at Sungai Benut was above the danger level.
In Terengganu, Dungun and Setiu also faced flooding problems with 17 people from seven families having to be moved the Surau Kampung Besol Lama at 1.10am in Dungun while Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Besut in Setiu had to be closed today due to flood waters (Sunday is a working day in Terengganu). — Bernama
