GEORGE TOWN, Nov 5 — Several Rapid Penang buses are back in service after operations were temporarily halted earlier this morning.

On its Facebook page, the bus company listed the bus routes back in operation on the island as follows: Route Airport Transit (AT), Central Area Transit (CAT), 11, 12, 13, 14, 301, 303, 308, 401, 401E, 403 and 404.

On the mainland, Rapid Penang has restarted the following bus routes: 601, 603, 608, 612, 701, 801, 802, EB60 and EB80.

“Please expect delays on certain routes as the roads are still be cleared up. We apologise on the inconvenience caused,” it added.

The Star reported on its website earlier that all bus services in Penang were suspended due to the widespread damage from yesterday’s heavy storm that flooded roads and uprooted trees.

Flood waters started subsiding in scattered parts of the island, but debris remained on the roads, impeding traffic.

The city council workers are currently engaged in clearing up the fallen trees and other debris even as rain has started to fall again.
