SUNGAI PETANI, Nov 5 — Eleven flood relief centres were opened in the Kuala Muda district to accommodate 336 people from 86 families who were forced to evacuate their homes when several villages and housing estates were hit by flash floods after a massive downpour last night.
Kuala Muda Civil Defence Force officer Capt Azahar Ahmad told reporters this morning that the situation was compounded by exceptionally high tides.
He added that as at 9am today, 45 villages in 12 mukims and four housing estates were affected. — Bernama
