KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 – A message circulating through the Whatsapp touting business loans from MCA is untrue, the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party said today.

Its deputy treasurer-general Datuk Seri Chuah Poh Khiang clarified that his party does not provide any business loan and denounced the message as “fake news”.

“MCA did not release any funds for business expansion. Any business in need of funds can apply for business loans from MCA’s Kojadi Jayadiri Malaysia Berhad.

“These are such as the Kojadi SME loan scheme, 1MCA Micro Credit Scheme for Youth, Transformasi Kedai Runcit (Tukar) and many more,” he said in a statement.

He added that non-MCA members can apply for those loans too.

Chuah believes the fake message claiming MCA is providing business loans of RM25,000 each for up to 80 individuals, could be a political ploy to discredit MCA.

“I’m not sure of the motives behind the spread of such fake messages, but I do not rule out the possibility of some parties having an evil political agenda of tarnishing MCA’s image,” he said.
