KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — A temporary power disruption in several parts of Klang and Ipoh today was due to faulty cables and underground drilling work that accidentally damaged a cable in Mengelembu.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it took immediate measures to restore power within four hours to all affected areas in both states.

“Initial investigations revealed that the power outage in Setia Alam, Bukit Raja and parts of Klang Utama from 9:45am today was due to faulty underground cables.

“As for power interruption in Menglembu, Ipoh from 10.48am, drilling work on a gas pipeline had accidentally caused damage to TNB underground cable,” it said in a statement.

For the affected areas in Setia Alam, Bukit Raja and parts of Klang, TNB said, supply was fully restored by 1.33pm while for Menglembu, full restoration was recorded at 1.01 pm.

Earlier today, The Star Online reported that 24 mini substations in Setia Alam and 138 substations in Mengelembu went offline, affecting residents in the area.
