KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 ― Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd’s (FGV) Datuk Zakaria Arshad is at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya to meet with investigators.

The suspended FGV chief executive officer said he was assisting the commission that earlier announced it will examine allegations of abuse involving FGV officials, according to The Star Online.

“I am also here to submit some documents to the MACC,” he was quoted as saying by the news portal.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Azam Baki told the Reuters news service that the commission will look into allegations surrounding the palm plantation operator.

FGV yesterday suspended Zakaria and three others over alleged irregularities in transactions between FGV subsidiary Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd and Afghan company Safitex.

Zakaria denied breaching corporate governance practices to allegedly allow Safitex to purchase palm oil products without a letter of credit, which reportedly resulted in delayed payments to the FGV unit.

He was reported yesterday as saying the MACC should investigate both FGV and him to determine if there were any discrepancies in dealings by him, the management or any of the superiors.
