TAIPING, June 3 — The two men who impersonated as military officers and tried to trespass into the Perdana Sungei Besi Camp here early yesterday are not linked to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, said Army chief Gen Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim.
However, he said the Army was still trying to establish their motives.
“So far there are no indications that they are linked to Daesh. We feel they were up to mischief,” he told reporters after joining the officers and men of the 9th Battalion of the Royal Rangers Regiment in breaking the fast here tonight.
Zulkiple added that in the wake of what happened, he had instructed all army camps to be extra vigilant.
In the 1.15 am incident, the duo, aged 22 and 23 years, who were in military fatigues had come in a Proton Saga and told the sentry they wanted to meet some friends at the camp.
However, they were detained when they could not provide proper identification. — Bernama
