TEMERLOH, June 2 — The Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has confirmed that his father Sultan Ahmad Shah is in good health, despite his advancing age.

Tengku Abdullah said he met his father yesterday after he (Tengku Abdullah) was discharged from a private hospital in the federal capital.

“I am the one who was hospitalised while my father is healthy. I am the one who is unwell,” he said when relaying the Sultan of Pahang’s regards during the official opening of the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, as well as presentation of contributions to the less fortunate and breaking fast event in Kampung Ketam yesterday.

Also present was Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. This was Tengku Abdullah’s first public appearance after he was warded for two weeks for treatment of his injury.

Tengku Abdullah said he was warded at the hospital due to a recurring of an old injury in his ankle, despite the fact that he underwent minor surgery on April 15 and was warded for a week then.

Tengku Abdullah said the ankle injury was an old one, sustained while playing football when he was younger, and advised those interested in the sports to be more vigilant when injured.

“For the young people, if they sustain an injury, follow the doctor’s advice and give enough rest because these injuries can recur when you are older and it will take longer to recover,” he said.

Tengku Abdullah said during the two weeks in the hospital, he was not allowed to move around often and thanked his wife, family and hospital staff for giving him a lot of encouragement and those who visited him and prayed for his recovery.

He added that due to his injury, he might have to reduce his regular visits to all districts in Pahang during the month of Ramadan but once he received the ‘green light’ from his doctor, he would resume the visits, even after the end of the fasting month. — Bernama
